Many people harbor dreams of owning a successful business and being their own boss. Becoming a successful business owner is a challenging task, but a very rewarding one. You may be wondering how to build a business that will survive in today’s high-tech world. Even if you have lots of work experience, managing a modern business can be a complex affair, but with the proper commitment of time and effort, you can learn the skills you need to start and manage your very own business.

If you would like to start a small business, summer is a good time to get your foot in the door. In addition to the numerous services and programs available to help you start and manage your own company, the Small Business Development Center of Staten Island and Brooklyn also holds numerous seminars throughout the year to help existing and potential business owners learn about the finer points of running a business. These seminars cover many topics important to the modern business owner; from business planning, to cyber security, to utilizing social media for marketing. In the past six months alone, we have hosted: the 2016 Small Business Cyber Security Conference, the Restaurant Technology Seminar, the Department of Labor Business Planning Seminar, the 18th Annual SIEDC Business Conference on Cyber Security & Identity Theft and the Facebook Marketing Event.

Be sure to check out our calendar in the coming months for information on all upcoming events.
